Warwick Hub is a student-led group that brings together the charitable and campaigning societies at Warwick to maximise the impact of student social action on campus. We offer a range of events and opportunities, supporting you to learn about issues and tackle social problems. Together, we have the power and potential to shape a better world.
We aim to support students to create positive social change in their communities. In order to share and improve how we do this, we are committed to measuring our impact. Read our latest report.
Warwick Hub was launched in 2011 by a group of students at the uni who wanted to mainstream social action on campus. These students felt that, whilst the University had a culture of sports and performing arts, and there were a large number of societies, there was not a community of socially engaged students who wanted to make a difference at University.
Warwick Hub was founded to counter this problem, building a community of like minded individuals, and aiming to make doing something good (from running a conference on climate change to volunteering in the community) the norm not the exception at Warwick.
After a hugely successful launch (2000 students signed up in 2 weeks), Warwick Hub has had three successful years - running conferences on climate change, social enterprise and development, The Series, and bringing charity groups together through the Shared Learning Forum and numerous inter charity socials.
Now, we have a network of almost 3,500 students who are passionate about social action and their potential to affect real change - while they're at uni, and throughout their lives.
Warwick Hub is part of the national charity Student Hubs. Student Hubs started back in 2007 with four students setting up Oxford Hub in order to connect like-minded students with each other and with opportunities to take action. They soon realised that there were too few opportunities for students to get involved with, so Oxford Hub started supporting students to set up their own volunteering projects.
The immense success Oxford Hub enjoyed led to the creation of Student Hubs, a national charity, and the development of Hubs at other universities. Over the years Hubs have been created in several other universities.
